A series of steps are to be followed in the germination process of paddy or rice seeds, for successful sprouting and growth of crops. The germination process differs from location and sometimes due to the variety of paddy being planted. Here is the general procedure to make your paddy to grow better,
Choose the right paddy seed suitable for your type of soil. Make sure it is free from diseases, and pests and has a uniform size and shape.
Tred the seeds with fungicides and pesticides to protect them from possible health issues.
Soak the seeds for around 24 hours to help them break out of their dormancy to promote uniform germination. Be sure to drain water to prevent it from rotting.
Prepare germination bed by plowing and leveling the soil that has good aeration, and proper water drainage.
Carefully place the seeds uniformly on the germination bed and cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil to maintain moisture.
Don't let the germination bed be waterlogged, but keep the moisture content consistent with an adequate amount of water for successful germination.
Regularly monitor the germination process, while the suitable temperature is 25-30°C, use water to control the temperature.
While light is useful for the process of germination, excessive light can damage the process.
Once the seedling grows a suitable size, transport it to the main paddy field manually or using modern agricultural instruments.
After this, you need to take care of your paddy field until it grows bigger and is ready for harvest. At this time you need to maintain the right amount of water level provide the necessary nutrients and control the pests for a good yield.

In this method, the seeds are sown in a nursery and after 4 to 5 weeks, the seedlings are uprooted and transplanted to paddy fields. This method is done in areas with abundant rainfall with fertile soil. Heavy input is needed as the whole process is done by hand.
With high-yielding seeds were raised in nursery beds and transplanted to the paddy field in uniform rows making it easy for weeding and applying fertilizer. In this method, heavy doses of fertilizers are used to get high yields.
